Volunteer Experience
Earl Bales Community Day Camp​
I had the opportunity to volunteer at Earl Bales Community Day Camp. Children were ranging from ages 4-to 10, there were eight different groups. I volunteered here from the summer of grade 8 until the summer of grade 9, I was a counsellor in training (CIT), I shadowed the counsellor that was in my group and I occasionally led games and activities, after every two weeks I was placed in a different age group to experience working with different ages from 4-10 years of age. At the end of each summer, as CIT's we had to lead an afternoon of activities to show the skill we have learned over the summer and get marked on it. This experience led me to my first job, after volunteering for two years I continued to work here for two years as well.

David Suzuki Public School
In grades 11 and 12, I had to opportunity to volunteer at David Suzuki Public School during the school year on days I had P.A. days. I was volunteering in a grade 1 classroom I helped the teacher with activities, snack and lunch monitoring and as well getting them ready for recesses. From this experience, I was able to gain more knowledge on how to work with children not just during summer camp as it is a very different experience.
Work Experience
Earl Bales Community Day Camp
I have had the opportunity not just to volunteer here but also to work here. I worked here in grades 10 and 11 as a camp counsellor. I worked with three other counsellors and two CITs, looking after 30 children each month. As a camp counsellor, I led activities with my co-counsellors, taught them dances to perform at parents' night at the end of each month, and helped the CITs build their leadership skills. I also built many different relationships with the camp's children, families, other counsellors and the director.

City of Toronto Recreation Activity Camp
In 2019, I worked for the City of Toronto as an activity camp counsellor at a satellite campsite. I worked at St. Gerald Catholic School with children ages 6-12. We went on field trips, had theme days and had multiple different activities. Working here, I learned what type of job I would want in the future and what age range I enjoy working with.

In the 2021-2022 summer, I worked as an activity camp counsellor with children ages 4-5 at Oriole Community Centre. Due to COVID-19, we were not allowed to go on trips or swim but could create multiple activity plans related to arts and crafts, science, and sports throughout the summer with different themes each week.

Since the 2023 summer and winter seasons, I have been a camp location coordinator, planning, organizing, directing, administering, and overseeing camp programs and providing ongoing direction and feedback to camp staff to support and assist staff with skill and professional development.

City of Toronto Recreation Preschool Program
From 2019-2022, I worked on different skills at Oriole Community Centre during the Fall season (September-December) on the weekends, working with families and children. Activity plans were created each week, including crafts, reading, music and sports.

City of Toronto Ready, Set Play Program
Since 2023, I have worked at Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Community Recreation Centre and Library during the Fall season (September-December) on the weekends, with children ages 18 months to 5 years old in teaching the fundamentals of different sports in preparation for them to learn the actual sports as they get older.

City of Toronto Ready, Crafty Creations
Since 2023, I have worked at Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Community Recreation Centre and Library during the Fall season (September-December) on the weekends, creating age-appropriate crafts and artistic pieces for children ages 18 months to 6 years old.
