Activity | 01  Surveying our class​

Inquiry: How do we survey and create charts and graphs?

 

This activity focuses on having the students learn how to create tally charts, bar graphs and pictographs. Students were first introduced to what all these things were and worked on class examples then, they were given an activity sheet where they had to come up with options they needed to survey their classmates with and then graph them. Students were also asked to note down which had the most and least and what the mode was.

Inquiry: Which animals do what?

 

Students first learned what hibernation and migration were. Then, students were asked to list animals they thought belonged to each category accompanied with a video afterwards to see if they were correct. They were provided with an activity sheet to cut and paste where they thought the correct animals belonged in which category.

Activity | 03 Patterning​

Inquiry: What are patterns?

 

In this lesson, students were given class examples to learn what patterns were and learn different parts of patterning such as attributes, pattern core and repeating patterns. A patterning book was then read to the students to identify different types of patterns in Indigenous everyday lives and students learned about what Wampum belts where the the significance then asked to create their own pattern on Wampum belts.

Activity | 04 Energy Scavenger Hunt​

Inquiry: What type of energy is it asking for?

 

As the students wrapped up learning the different types of energy, I provided them with an energy scavenger hunt were there were prompts that required the students to go around the school to look for the object it was asking for. Students were given the option to either write it out or draw it out.
